1.
Feel the tilt again and keep balance autumn's running out of steam it seems Gloom will glide right in with glitter and settle into town like frost Put the kettle on the stove top find a warm song to hum The Driftler stirs in their sleep And I'm ready to bundle up
2.
Twirling towards the earth an army of dancers gracefully fumbling swirling in the wind they mesmerize and then crash so silently Walking home I'm awful cold, I'm frozen In frigid flurries Walking slow, the colors glow they're whirling In no hurry Lining all the streets a casual whimsy bright and shining measures of goodwill that drive up electric bills kaleidoscopic funny things that we do to make it through

4.
The Driftler wakes again shaking summer sand from their eyes with reluctant hands riding the grey clouds like a train moving like coffee in the morning going like the rain to Drift into cities, drift from the moon drift into hallways on the bottom of my boots The carpet's cozy warm laying down for hours the hearth is slowly glowing low sharing color pots and kettle on the stove lazy cooped in the home I wonder where all that you go Do you drift into coal towns? do you drift in the fields that drift by the highways that drift out of view? Do you drift in the churches like ice down a creek? Do you drift through my windows as I drift off to sleep?
5.
No heat cold during sleep my breath shines while I dream No heat cold during sleep keep warm in the basement 'til dawn
6.
come around don’t you now an October crown trees were slouching, crooked again only an hour until you leave town I saw hearts gushing with empty sentiments your friends all miss you but are growing tired you only see yourself and I'm growing tired Snow ended November comparisons ran wild you were grey skies testing our worth December heard sounds of mending bells you started talking bad about Pittsburgh New year's came and went without ya 'round and I was glad January cooped up alone inside frost sweeping at my windows you said you'd come back to see the band while the weather's still cold then February ended I won't let old friends put me down with their words one day I'll do something good I won't let a place decide my worth one day I'll go somewhere good

about

Some say The Driftler (they/them) is a distant cousin to the Grim Reaper. Although it is known that The Driftler's overall countenance is friendlier and much less menacing than that of the Grim Reaper's, I would not be surprised if Drifty and Grim were related in some regards. I've also heard rumors that when the Driftler wakes for winter, they like to spend their company with the Sandman and Jack Frost cruising underneath the starry sky, basking in the snowy glow and breezing into towns and distant forests alike.
